IMovie offers a lot of options when it comes to adding text to a project. Before diving into the unofficial option, let me briefly explain the official means.

Note that you will not be able to move where the Title is located within the movie itself. There’s a lot of different styles and options here, so I would recommend checking out all of them, as this the only official way to add text to your screen. When it comes to adding text to a project in iMovie, there’s the Titles option.
There are a lot of options within the app itself, but getting it exactly where you need it will take some finesse. You can choose when the text shows up, but you can’t manually determine where on the screen it will show up. Depending on how you want to move the text, it may be really easy, or you may need to get a bit more creative.įor those using a Mac, while there are a lot of powerful options and features available, there isn’t a way to move text directly within the screen itself.

With an attached clip, when you move a video clip or photo, the attached clip moves with it. If you used a background or other clip, the title is added as an attached clip above the other clip in the timeline. Click Titles, then double-click the title in the browser that you want to use, or drag the title to the timeline.You can also use any other video clip or photo as the background. If you don't want a special background, go to the next step. Or drag the background to the beginning or end of the timeline. If you’ve set a theme for your movie, titles related to the theme appear at the top of the browser. To remove text from a clip, tap the clip, tap the Titles button, then tap None in the title styles that appear. Tap a different title style to preview it in the viewer.
